“Gas Bombardment” and Lost Tommy Dorsey Session ft. Sinatra Among Historic Restorations Coming to VTMC’s His Master’s Voice Label

A 1918 master recording of the only sound recorded during combat in the trenches of World War I—an acetate titled “Gas Bombardment”—was delivered to Victor’s Vault this week. Earlier we announced the return of a rare and alternate take of a Tommy Dorsey acetate track featuring a young Frank Sinatra. This acetate (which was slated for destruction in the 1960s trashing of the original Victor Vault) and both of these recordings will be preserved, restored, and digitized for all to enjoy. Really incredible stuff!
