1) "Total Cartography" -Graham Alexander
It would only seem fitting to include this pop/broadway influenced song to the FALL 2016 Sampler as it was one of the first songs released with the relaunch of VICTOR TALKING MACHINE CO. in 2014.
Now a few years old, the song has since become a cult favorite of pop and powerpop fans. This song was recorded in Camden County at Victor Studios and eventually was released with 9 other songs on the "Repeat Deceiver" album.
This album is available at Victorrecords.com, Spotify, and Apple Music in Digital, Streaming, CD, and LP formats.
2) "Someone To Watch Over Me" -Linda Keene & Strictly From Dixie.
The Gershwin Brothers penned this beautiful song in 1926 where it began its long journey to becoming an American classic. This 2016 remaster of the version by Linda Keane & Strictly From Dixie was recorded originally in 1942 slightly before the ban on recorded music in 1943. The ban prevented this version from becoming a hit single for the singer but none the less, after uncovering the master recording - Victor engineers in 2015 decided to pay homage to the song and singer by remastering and restoring the charming albeit largely obscure Victor recording.
This song will be paired and featured on Victor's upcoming 'Little Nipper' collection - a value priced compilation CD and Digital Download collection featuring enjoyable but often obscure selections from Victor's back catalog treasury of music. Like our more well known releases, the 'Little Nipper' series painstakingly digitally remasters and restores the recordings from the masters in the same high quality world-class manner as our re-issues of Rachmaninoff, Fats Waller, or Frank Sinatra. Victor engineers in Camden work painstakingly on their commitment to protecting and restoring these recordings for the company- and music fans alike.
